| Refusing the worn out formulas of current mainstream trends in favor of making the most genuine music possible is no easy task in today’s often-fabricated recording industry. Hailing from Youngstown, Ohio, Asleep is a band with respect and admiration for the musical innovators preceding them and for the character-shaping shell of a city that they refuse to deny their music belongs to. Striving for a distinguishing identity felt to be sorely missing in modern-day everything their writing process focuses on dynamic peaks and valleys, which are intended to underlie the often crestfallen yet epic feeling captured throughout their music. In attempting to blend seemingly immiscible styles together Asleep approaches their favorite varying influences from a different viewpoint. The result is a familiar yet overwhelmingly unique sound in a time when a lot of bands are only concerned with emulating current market successes. The listener can expect powerful melody implemented with thick but warm guitar tones, prodigious lead vocals, ambient effects, atmospheric keyboards, colorful and driving low-end, hard-hitting percussion, honest lyrics, and carefully written harmonies. The band is now focused on recording their first up-and-coming release, All These Things We’ll Never Need, a conceptual album exploring the constructs of reality and normality both philosophically and scientifically. Asleep is next hoping to make their collective dream a reality by touring the country and providing people with something they can relate to. Music is from the heart, not the pocket. The members of Asleep truly believe that and feel that their hard work should continue to allow them to do what they love for an ever-growing audience.
